Having been a lifelong Bentley and Rolls Royce owner for many decades has provided me with an astute and enjoyable knowledge of both marques, and enabled me to create a network of experts to help search out only the best examples available. This gorgeous Continental R Special Edition finished in Black over Black Connolly hides was originally purchased new off the showroom floor at EuroMotorcars of Bethesda Maryland, the authorized Bentley new car dealer, by its one and only owner to date. It is 1 of only 10 produced for the world where production #1 was purchased by and delivered to its owner in Germany, where it has been since. This is #8 of the 10 produced where only 9 remain in the US. We have the original window sticker showing a MSRP of $338,956.00, not including the luxury tax paid buy its owner upon delivery. Specific to this example, and in addition to all the options fitted by the factory to the Special Edition was the flying “B” Mascot fitted to the top of the grill. This was at the request of the US purchaser prior to taking delivery. This had to be done by the factory in England and on a separate new grill, prior to the factory drilling the holes necessary to place the flat winged B plaque which is fitted to all other Bentleys that left the factory. We know this by sitting with the original owner and hearing him explain how he demanded it to be done exactly as he requested by the factory in England, and finally by him personally giving us possession of the original grill, removed from the car at the delivering dealer, with the flat plaque winged B fitted to it, boxed and never seen daylight…until we opened it.
This Bentley Continental R Special Edition is specified as such on the original window sticker by having the Mulliner Park Ward option, which adds $19,556.00 to the original MSRP of $319,400 creating its $338,956 price and includes:

We have gone through this motorcar and have performed all the necessary services including replacing with new parts both Rear Gas Springs, Lower Front Suspension Bushings, O Ring Sets, Mineral Oil, etc.
I have previously owned a 98 Bentley Continental R, amongst other Bentley and Rolls Royce's, in which I've had the pleasure of driving daily for years and therefore know exactly how this motorcar should perform in every way. This motorcar needs nothing and is ready for pure enjoyment as it performs as it did when new with smooth power and amazing torque, Ice cold A/C, seamless shifting, and every single switch, light and button works as when it was delivered new. Fitted with proper and like new Pirelli tires. No Leaks underneath in the garage and no shrinkage of the dashboard leather anywhere. I've had This Bentley sit still and running with the a/c on for long periods of time and never saw the temperature gauge move past normal, as a real one that has been owned and serviced properly should. This is without a doubt the right one to own if you're looking to enjoy the experience, pleasure and honor of being its next custodian, as we all are when it comes to very limited production and rare Bentleys such as this.
The gloss Black paint looks miles deep as it shows in the pictures and we have not yet even detailed the car prior to these pictures being taken, so upon completion of that we will provide more pictures showing everything…as expected of such a fine example.
This is the only modern day Bentley Continental coupe that will comfortably seat 4 adults in pure luxury as todays smaller Bentley Continental GT can only seat 2 adults up front. The Continental R is 4 inches longer than a 2013 Mercedes Benz S Class and its design is spectacular and timeless. Its performance is wonderful and surprisingly brisk as it is quite fast with its successful and proven 6.75 Liter V8 fitted with a large Garret Turbocharger. This motorcar is meant to be driven with spirit as the “R” designation means “Roadholding.” A completed pre-production Continental R was secretly taken to Switzerland for a surprise launch of the model at the 1991 Geneva Motor Show, expecting that the car would be launched in 1992 and as the car was unveiled the Sultan of Brunei purchased the show car at the event for over £2m and added it to his collection, the largest motorcar collection in the world. Upon its launch to the public in 1991 the Bentley Continental R was the fastest, most expensive, and most powerful Bentley of its day. It was also the most expensive production car in the world.
