This 1969 AMC AMX has been beautifully restored to show room condition and represents 1 of the 2,183 with the 390 and auto trans. This AMX has several popular options that include AMC Go Pack and the extremely rare AMC Rally Pack with AC. This may be one of the nicest AMX's out there with factory and aftermarket goodies. This vehicle has spent the last 2 years on display here at the California Automobile Museum.
The Frost White paint is in excellent condition and has a great shine to it. The body panels are extremely straight and are very solid while being rust and bondo free. The chrome bumpers are in excellent shape and the chrome is in great condition. The trim throughout the vehicle is in great shape. The dual side mount exhaust looks great on this vehicle. The adjustable rear spoiler is in nice shape and goes well with the aftermarket rear window louvers that are installed. The polished stainless chin spoiler looks right at home under the front end of this vehicle. The 14 inch Magnum 500 wheels are wrapped in Redline BF Goodrich P225/70R14 tires with 10/32nds of tread on them. The lenses throughout the vehicle are in great shape and do not have any cracks in them. The glass in the vehicle is in nice shape and does not have any chips or cracks in it.
The interior on this AMX is in excellent shape and has some fantastic features. The first and probably most sought after is the Rally Pack with the AC vents, believed to have been 1 of 4 in 1969 and less than 1% of 1970 AMX's were known to have this option. The seats are in excellent shape and do not show any signs of wear. The headliner and carpets are also in fantastic shape. The walnut grain interior trim pieces are in very nice shape throughout the interior. The center console is in fantastic shape. The original Owners Manual and Service Policy and Warranty books are still in their dust covers. The air conditioning operating instructions are also included on the driver's sun visor as well. The dash is in great overall shape but does have a small crack at one of the screw holes towards the driver's side and that is really the only flaw that I was able to find inside this vehicle. The trunk area is very sanitary with the original space saver spare and inflator canister.
This AMX's X code 390 cu. in. 315 HP engine runs extremely well and has a great sound to it. It fires up easily and idles nicely. The Shift Command 3 speed automatic transmission shifts as it should. The engine and transmission are still original and have never been rebuilt but were removed, cleaned and painted when restored. The AMC's Go Package consisted of 4bbl carburetor, dual exhaust, power disc brakes, posi rear end, handling package, seven blade flex fan, heavy duty cooling, fan shroud, space saver spare and the over the top twin stripes. This vehicle is equipped with Air Conditioning, Power Disc Brakes, Power Steering and Side Pipes. The engine has been dressed up and the bay is very clean with the correct details under the hood.
Electrically this vehicle is in great shape. All of the lights and signals work as they should. The gauges in dash cluster all work as they should but the gauges in the Rally Pack were not hooked up.
This vehicle has been gone through top to bottom and by looking at the underside it shows! This AMX was restored 4-5 years ago by the current owner has won several awards at various Concours shows that it has been taken to. This beautiful AMX is museum quality and had a concours restoration. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer AMX with these options. SOLD
