The AMX is a two-seat GT style muscle car produced by American Motors from 1968 through 1970. The only other American built two-seat at the time was the Corvette which was an inch longer and significantly more expensive. The two-seat AMX was "meant for a small, well-defined market niche and it pulled young people into AMC dealer showrooms in never before seen numbers". This particular example was produced in Kenosha WI and was factory optioned with the T-code 343ci 5.6L V8 rated at 290hp and the BorgWarner T-10 4-speed tranny with a Hurst floor shifter. The 343ci engine was recently rebuilt at which time it was fit with a Crane hydraulic cam, roller rockers, a new set of Edelbrock 401 aluminum heads, an Edelbrock intake made specifically for this engine as well as a Holley 750cfm 4bbl carb, a complete MSD electronic ignition, a Milodon oil pump and 7 quart oil pan. Exhaust is handled via a set of ceramic coated long tube headers and a 3” dual exhaust system that sounds just plain nasty. At the same time the engine was rebuilt it was upgraded with a set of power front disc brakes from a 1970 AMX, a 4 core aluminum radiator, a set of Offenhauser polished valve covers, a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner, a new Optima Red Top battery was trunk mounted with a disconnect, the tranny was serviced and the rear end was rebuilt. The black interior is mostly original except for the Sony CD player, 6X9 speakers, amplifier, added gauges and dash pad. It was repainted about 20 years ago in Speed Yellow with Black racing stripes. The prep work was marginal at best and the paint is showing its age as a result. It still has killer curb appeal which is enhanced by the chrome Center Line 15” rims. Within the last 100 miles it was serviced with synthetic oil and the radiator was flushed. We would classify this as a strong #3 vehicle and as such would appraise it at the current NADA Average Retail value which is $44,400.00. We are serious about finding a new home for this Muscle Car and have priced it to move quicker than it goes so if you like what you see don’t wait until it is too late to reach out to us!
